STAINLESS STEEL 15-5 PH / S15500

15-5 PH provides high strength, good corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties at temperatures up to 600°F (316°C), and good toughness in both base metal and welds. Short-time, low-temperature heat treatments minimize distortion and scaling. SAGAR Steel 15-5 PH is the ferrite-free version of SAGAR Steel 17-4 PH Stainless Steel. Both alloys are widely used in the aerospace, chemical, petrochemical, food processing, paper and general metalworking industries.UNS S15500 is a martensitic precipitation hardening type stainless steel. Martensitic stainless steels were designed to be corrosion resistant and hardened through heat treatment.

Alloy 15-5 is a precipitation hardening alloy exhibiting high strength and hardness with moderate corrosion resistance. Alloy 15-5 is a variant of the older 17-4 and 15-5 was designed to have greater toughness than S17400. Alloy 15-5 is used in applications that require high transverse strength and toughness such as engine parts, aircraft components, nuclear reactor components etc.
